The 2021 season is fully underway, and this weekend is a big one with several larger meets in the Kansas City area.
Although the postseason is still more than a month away, these meets give teams a chance to position themselves and do some jockeying at larger meets against good competition. Saturday will be a busy day with meets all around the area, with the biggest meet taking place in the southern part of Missouri.
Missouri Southern State University in Joplin is hosting the Missouri Southern Stampede. More than 70 teams will be competing, and they’ll be coming from Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. About 10 schools from the KC area are scheduled to compete at the meet at the Missouri Southern course.
Back in the KC area, more than 20 local teams will be competing at the Lee’s Summit North Solsberg Invitational. It will be held at LSN High School. It’s an important meet for some of the larger Missouri schools as LSN will also be hosting the District 4 meet next month.
On the Kansas side, nearly two dozen of the KC area teams will be heading to the Baldwin High or Bonner Springs meets. The meet at the Baldwin City Golf Course will have teams from Johnson County, as well as both schools from Lawrence, Kansas.
More than 10 area schools will be going to the Bonner Springs meet, which will be held at Wyandotte County Park. This site has also been a regional site many years, so it gives some of those schools a chance to compete on the course before the postseason in late October.
Check back this weekend for results and stories about these meets.
