Kansas regional assignments announced

On Thursday, high schools cross country teams across Kansas learned of their regional fate.

The Kansas State High School Activities Association regional meets will be held on Oct. 23. Classes 2A-6A will have four regionals, with just three regionals for Class 1A.

Here are the regional assignments for the Kansas City area teams:

Class 6A

Host: Blue Valley Northwest

Site: Johnson County Community College

Race times: Girls – 9:40 a.m.; Boys – 11 a.m.

Teams: Gardner-Edgerton, Olathe East, Olathe North, Olathe South, Olathe West, Blue Valley, Blue Valley North, Blue Valley Northwest, Overland Park-Blue Valley West

Host: Shawnee Mission Northwest

Site: Johnson County Community College

Race times: Girls – 9 a.m.; Boys – 10:20 a.m.

Teams: JC Harmon, Wyandotte, Lawrence, Olathe Northwest, Shawnee Mission East, Shawnee Mission North, Shawnee Mission Northwest, Shawnee Mission South, Shawnee Mission West

Host: Junction City

Site: Milford State Park

Race times: Girls – 10 a.m.; Boys – 10:45 a.m.

Teams: Hutchinson, Junction City, Free State, Manhattan, Topeka, Washburn Rural, Wichita-Heights, Wichita-North, Wichita-Northwest

Class 5A

Host: St. James Academy

Site: Kansas City-Savior Pastoral Center

Race times: Girls – 10 a.m.; Boys – 10:40 a.m.

Teams: Bonner Springs, De Soto, Sumner Academy, Turner, St. James Academy, Blue Valley Southwest, St. Thomas Aquinas, Mill Valley, Spring Hill

Host: Topeka West

Site: Stateland Cross Country Course

Race times: Girls – 9 a.m.; Boys – 9:45 a.m.

Teams: Basehor-Linwood, Schlagle, Piper, Washington HS, Lansing, Leavenworth, Shawnee Heights, Topeka West, Topeka-Seaman

Class 4A

Host: Baldwin

Site: Baldwin City Golf Course
